Kisspeptin-10 is a ten-amino-acid fragment of the kisspeptin peptide family, encoded by the KISS1 gene. In laboratory models it is studied as an upstream signal in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, where it binds the GPR54 receptor (also written KISS1R) expressed on GnRH neurons.
Research interest centres on the receptor-level mechanisms by which that binding initiates gonadotropin-releasing hormone signalling, and on how the signal is regulated and desensitised over repeated exposure. It is also used as a reference ligand in GPR54 binding and selectivity assays.
Supplied as a lyophilised powder in a sealed vial, for reconstitution with bacteriostatic water. Store lyophilised at -20°C and protect from light.
